Ayden Uhlir and her trainer Christine Traurig celebrate a successful show. For those of you attending the USET Solid Gold dinner this weekend in Wellington, Florida, there may be a new buzz in the air. (Photo caption: Ayden Uhlir and her trainer Christine Traurig celebrate a successful show.)

In 2010, Adidas produced a television advertisement, suggesting it would include equestrian sports in its line of products. See the YouTube video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q16WeQGTv_E
Nothing seemed to come of that teaser ad, but now NIKE brings some very, VERY exciting news for equestrians: “US Dressage rising young star Ayden Uhlir signed a contract earlier this week to become Nike’s first US Equestrian Athlete!”
We’ll be following this lead with great interest, and watch to see how long it takes other sports equipment companies to take notice of the missed opportunities in equestrian sports industry.
